Broke Girl's Guide to Brujeria
Spiritual materialism is real and you do not need anything to be a witchy babe. But if you do want to practice some witchcraft there are ways to do it on a budget.
Visit your local Supermercado
Not your Publix, Kroger or Walmart - but the local Latin, Asian or Caribbean market. You’ll most likely find candles for prayer and spells a lot cheaper there. Oh, and skip out on whole foods as the markup on candles, incense and other spiritual tools are through the roof.
Grow your own herbs
Seeds, a bag of soil, food and a pot will run you about $20 but will produce a plethora of herbs. As opposed to paying $3 for a bag of bay leaves that’ll only last you 5-10 uses, you can grow a whole garden of bay leaves that’ll supply three times that.
Make your own blessed water
Water in it’s own natural state is pure and full of vibrant energy. Mix that with some quartz crystals and the power of your own blessing and viola you’ve got yourself some blessed water. Tip: If you want to purify the water of toxins look into buying some Shungite, but beware of the fakes.
Use essential Oils
Probably the most expensive thing on this list, essential oils come in handy when you want to create energy clearing sprays or for goddess baths. To save money, opt for non-organic essential oils.
Visualize materials needed
Crystals are beautiful and full of energy that may help in manifesting the things you want and the rarer they are the more expensive they can get. However, no one needs to pay $300 for a crystal to be a witch. You can visualize the crystal that you’re thinking of instead of actually having it. The power of intention is real ya’ll. Don’t sleep on it.
Meditation is magick. Meditation can change the way you perceive and take in the world. With meditation you become one with the breath and the mind. It’s very much like spellwork with the transformation taking place within.
One of my favorite forms of magick is color magick. Similar to color therapy, color magick is when you use colors to invoke certain moods, energies or even deities. Red can represent the energy of fire, Aries, love, Mercury or Mars. Baby pink is soothing and can evoke feelings of love and compassion. Yellow is vibrant and up-lifting...etc.
Be your own magick
You darling are made of stardust and don’t need anything to be the unicorn that you are. Believe in yourself and know that whatever you put out into the universe will come to fruition off the power of your word and intent alone.
